Dear subscriber,

First, I want to thank you personally if you just recently started or renewed your membership in the Robeson Art Guild! We are very proud of the birth and growth of the Guild in just over a year; your support makes this growth possible. Officially chartered in May 2021, we have grown to over 200 members from that early start of only 15 dedicated members. Our mission continues to be to feed the souls of our artists in Robeson County and provide numerous opportunities for them to share their work and their joy of creativity.

The Guild's focus is visual art and our County Commissioners helped us grow this goal when they generously gave us our home, the Robeson Art Guild House, located at 109 W 9th St. in Lumberton, in July 2021. During the first year, we worked very hard to grow membership and to repair and stabilize the building, making it safe and secure for exhibitions, classes, and meetings. So far, the Guild has sponsored 5 exhibitions and 3 featured artists’ shows, plus Arts in the Garden. Guild members have won numerous awards and sold many pieces of artwork as they partnered to enter competitive shows throughout the southeast.

We have many plans to enrich the life of Robeson County residents. Just one example is long-term research already underway to honor Robeson artists such as Benjamin Forrest Williams. Ben was born in Lumberton in 1925 and went on to become the first curator of the North Carolina Museum of Art, serving in that position for more than 40 years. We are also working on partnership projects with UNCP, RCC, the Visitors’ Bureau, Kiwanis, Rotary, the Lumberton Chamber of Commerce, the Arts Council, the Civic Center and many other organizations to fuel the economies and feed the souls.

There is so much more to say about the artists of Robeson County, and we want to tell it to the world with your support. Simply click the button below to go directly to our secure website and renew your membership.
