The theme for the New Year Celebration Exhibition is the opportunity for each artist to share his or her inspiration for the New Year. Let’s celebrate the promise of a New Year, being good to ourselves and those we love, and help each other raise our spirits after the long winter.

We are pleased to announce that Nanette S. Zeller has agreed to judge the New Year Celebration Exhibit entries. Nanette is an author, instructor and award-winning artist whose artwork and writings have been published internationally and featured on Quilting Arts TV and in Quilting Arts Magazine.
|

|
|
|
|
|
Nanette has been sewing since she was 10 and quilting since 2001. She earned a master’s degree in wildlife biology from North Carolina State University and began combining her skills to create nature-inspired innovative mixed-media textile art (generically referred to as art quilts) in 2005. Her work is heavily embellished with thread to create beautiful textures.

Informal Painting Group
Meets Wednesdays, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There is no charge, and you don't need a reservation, just bring a project you want to work on, art supplies you want to share, or just to watch and talk about a video. So far, we meet on Wednesdays, but if another time or day works better, let's see what can be arranged. By the way, any ideas for a name?!

Art Supplies Swap/Share
Several members have brought in art supplies, books, magazines, whatever they don't need, to share with other members who may want to try something new. It's a good way to explore, perhaps on a Wednesday when you are taking time for yourself at the painting group.

Monthly Volunteer Lunch and Share
Volunteers need a place and time to share ideas and get answers to questions, so we set aside the last Thursday of each month to meet over lunch - that's Thursday, January 30 for the first one of 2025! It's Bring-our-Own-Lunch, but we do have coffee, tea, water, and hot chocolate available, and sometimes dessert appears. Join us when you can, and if you can't, email carole.blaney@robesonartguild.org with your questions and suggestions and we'll share them with the other volunteers and get you answers. That's also a good way to let us know if you want to help on any specific project.

Upcoming Quarterly Meetings
Mark your calendars now and plan to attend the upcoming Quarterly Members Meetings in 2025. These regular meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Thursday of the ending month each quarter: March 20, June 19, September 18, and December 18, 2025. They are a great way to learn what is happening at the Art Guild, what is planned, and to share your ideas!
