Remembrance Poppy Award and Artist’s Choice 2026 Awards
The Artist’s Choice 2026 and Remembrance Poppy Exhibition opened Thursday, May 12th, after the Bar-B-Q. It was a busy day and Lil Willie’s Smokehouse outdid themselves with great food! It was so welcome to relax in the air conditioning, take in the beautiful work from all over Robeson County, study Nanette Zeller chosen prize winners, and learn a little more about local veterans from Allyson Rosser.

Allyson Rosser presented the Remembrance Poppy Award and the Artist’s Choice Awards at the opening reception.
Allyson is a dedicated community leader and serves as the NC Chapter Leader and National Recruiter for the Native American Women Warriors group. She is a U.S. Army Airborne veteran and passionate advocate for Native communities, women veterans, and suicide awareness and prevention.
The first and, so far, only woman in her family to serve in the military, Allyson is a proud member of the Pee Dee Tribe of South Carolina.

We had a wonderful selection of entries and judge Nanette Zeller had her hands full picking the winners. She did a great job! We all enjoyed celebrating the winners for their very original, meaningful work.
Now, in the unlikely event that you don’t agree with some of Nanette’s decisions… Well, come in and cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award! Look for the bowl with the ballots and pens, browse the display, and cast your vote. Every entry in the Exhibit Hall has a Number assigned. Just put the number down and drop your vote in the Donation in the front room, across from the front door.
Stop in soon, even if you made it to the opening! The People’s Choice Award to coming up – get your votes in for your personal favorites. As we’ve said before, we can’t track ’em anyway, so vote often and get your favorite piece over the finish line. The People’s Choice Award will be announced once the exhibition closes on Thursday, July 9th.
