Pottery Class, Off to a Great Start!

Jim Trip and his class had a wonderful time on February 8th at the Guild House. Each student created a basket from clay and Jim is now firing the baskets to bisque form. On February 15th the students will return to glaze and clear coat their creations, then return on February 18th to pick up their finished works.

Looking great!

Why do we want to play with clay?

We are all kids at heart and have not fulfilled our dreams! We never got dirty enough. It gets under your nails, and you can’t get rid of it.  So many reasons to want to master control of dirt makes us want to participate in classes and create a piece of beauty or function.

So, your opportunity is available February 8 and 15 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Robeson Art Guild House, 109 West 9th Street, Lumberton.

No fees.  Supplies furnished.  I will instruct you in making a basket from clay.  A small, simple form will be used to mold the clay into the finished shape. I will furnish extrusions of clay which you will cut to length to fit the shape you use.

Once these are finished, I will fire to bisque form.  On the 15th, you will return for glazing the piece with underglazes and clear coat finish.  I will bring home and fire to maturity.  Then on Friday the 18th you will be able to pick up your finished work at the Guild House.

Looking forward to this opportunity to serve Art to the community.”
