The Artist’s Choice Exhibition opened Thursday, May 22 and runs through July 10th! The opening reception was a wonderful night, with people flowing throughout the Guild House all evening, enjoying the beautiful, – and meaningful! – work created by our local artists. The artists responded to this call with not only their choices of their work but also artworks created to honor the sacrifice of veterans who lost their lives in service to our country since World War I.

The awards were presented by Raymond Hunt, American Legion District Commander for Robeson and Scotland Counties.
Dr. Paul Baker selected First, Second, and Third Place Winners and 4 Honorable Mentions in addition to the special Remembrance Day Poppy Award. We expect the Remembrance Poppy Award to be a new Memorial Day tradition for the Robeson Art Guild.

When you stop by the Guild House, be sure to see the very special Tribute to Montford Point Marines by Melvin Morris. Melvin was kind enough to loan us his special piece for this very special exhibition. You may remember that the painting was one of the Robeson County artworks selected from our large Osterneck juried show for the Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) exhibition in Raleigh in 2023. Thank you, Melvin. Can't wait to see what you have done with Inner Peace Gallery when you reopen in August/September!

It was a beautiful evening and many of our visitors also visited the Robeson County Arts Council Gallery opening of "From the Garden, a Floral Exhibition" that will run through June 23. By all accounts it, too, is a wonderful experience! Don't miss the opportunity to see the floral display and artwork there. It's great to see Lumberton blossoming (see what I did there... yes, GROAN...) with original, local art.

Thank you everyone for helping make the Artist's Choice and Remembrance Poppy Award opening such a great success!

Art Supplies Swap/Share Box

The Swap Box continues to be popular, with members contributing and taking out a range of fun... stuff. From art supplies to try, a nice table easel, books, magazines, whatever who may catch their attention or no longer fit their needs. It's a good way to explore. There is no charge, just remember, if you take something, please bring something in for others - and if you don't need or want what you take, well, just bring it back! The box is in the classroom, next to the art group supplies.
