Upcoming Classes - March thru May!

Modern Applications of Vintage Design, Jill Vickers
The new series of classes at the Guild House cover a variety of subjects - and offer a great opportunity to have a first-hand look at the new exhibit Spring Festival 2025! There are a few openings for the Art of Collage for Journaling and Scrapbooking that meets this Thursday at 10 am this Thursday, March 27, and Saturday, March 29, but if that doesn't work for you, here is the current schedule thru May:

March 27 & 29 - The Art of Collage for Journaling and Scrapbooking

April 1 (yes, we know that's April Fools Day!) - Exploring Antique Objects thru Art

April 3rd or 10th, your choice - Design your own Greeting Cards!

April 22 - The second session of Botanical Illustrations in Watercolor

May 3 - Artistic Branding for Beginners (and even you experts may learn a new thing-or-two)

We also have pre-registration open for the next session of Modern Application of Vintage Design. Sign up to be notified of the date as soon as we know.

You can sign up today online at the website at robesonartguild.org. All classes are listed on the Register | Shop page. If you have any questions or suggestions for other classes, please let me know at carole.blaney@robesonartguild.org.

Update on the Monday Art Group: From practice skies to texture and new paintings.

Since that first Monday session on March 4th, we have seen a changing (and slowly growing!) cast of members stopping by. So far, the most popular approach has been just trying out new techniques in watercolor, hands-on work, and new ideas. We have worked on skies and experimented with different types of paper, so there are new paintings coming together - some landscapes and some focusing on painting the lovely orchid that Bobbie Britt brought in for the Spring Festival opening reception - Thanks Bobbie!

Next Monday, March 31, some of us will be experimenting with using salt and other techniques to add texture - and at least one person is planning to try a spontaneous landscape, experimenting with VERY wet-in-wet technique! Should be fun!

The YouTube setup is definitely NOT the desired focus of those who have participated recently but is available if you want to use that resource. Feel free to bring something you want to work on. If you don't have a project yet, or you're having a problem deciding (artist block is real!) maybe we can provide some inspiration. We have some art group supplies to help get you started and some of us are finding it helpful to just play and practice.

Join us for Monday Art Group at the Guild House at 109 West 9th Street in Lumberton on Mondays from 12:30 to 2:30 pm!
By the way, if you can't make it on Monday, let me know. There's nothing that says we can't have several groups for interested members to get together! Let's talk!

Art Supplies Swap/Share Box

The Swap Box continues to be popular, with members contributing and taking out a range of fun... stuff. From art supplies to try, a nice table easel, books, magazines, whatever who may catch their attention or no longer fit their needs. It's a good way to explore. There is no charge, just remember, if you take something, please bring something in for others - and if you don't need or want what you take, well, just bring it back! The box is in the classroom, next to the art group supplies.
