Ellen Burke will Judge Tongue in Cheek Exhibition

The Robeson Art Guild is pleased to announce that Ellen Burke has agreed to judge Tongue in Cheek, our first exhibition for 2023.
Ellen has a 38-year career as an art educator and Fine and Performing Arts chair in New York and Massachusetts. After retiring from her public-school career, she was adjunct professor of art education at the Art Institute of New Hampshire.
Since moving to Pinehurst in 2015 Ellen has enjoyed giving art appreciation lectures at Hollyhocks Gallery, the Arts Council of Moore County and for local organizations as well as teaching art lessons to children and adults in a variety of mediums.
Ellen believes that the arts connect us to our shared humanity and celebrate our unique individuality. She encourages her students to explore, reflect, take a risk and to embrace the artistic process.

We are looking forward to seeing all our local artists’ unique, artistic approaches to the Tongue in Cheek theme: celebrating life through the Culinary Arts! We asked the artists to create serious work that uses food, the history of food, the consumption of food, the process of food, containers for food, the pleasure of food. . . even the wearing of food and more as the subject of 2- and 3-dimensional work for this competition. Whatever stirred their creative souls!
Don’t forget to mark your calendars to attend the Opening Reception on Thursday, January 5th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Guild House. The Exhibition runs through Thursday, March 2, 2023.
