Solo Exhibition Proposal Entry Form

The Robeson Art Guild hosts special exhibitions of selected artists at the Guild House in Lumberton, North Carolina throughout the year.  This is a new Open Call for Proposals for new Solo Exhibitions. Each proposal must provide information about the Artist or Artists included in the proposal, a title for the exhibition, an overview and clear statement of the Artist Statement concept and outline the objectives of the artwork to be exhibited.

Please upload a sample image of artwork representative of your proposal or Adobe Acrobat file which supports your proposal. Each individual file must be no larger than 10 MB. Only .pdf, .jpg, .jpeg, or.jpe may be uploaded. Additional image and/or support pdf files will be requested and transferred separately as needed.

Description

Each proposal must include a title for the exhibition, an overview and clear statement of the Artist’s concept and objectives.  The concept outlined must fit comfortably with the Artist’s statement about both their goals in general and specify how each piece submitted fits and advances either the concept outlined or how the concept evolved based on the work. 
  
A non-refundable application fee is required with submission of the Solo Exhibition Proposal. Additional fees may be required based on the type, size and duration of the exhibition proposed. The Proposal Party is deemed to be the Artist named unless otherwise disclosed.
  
Each component artwork submitted for inclusion in the exhibition will be accepted or rejected based on a digital image of the piece by a juror designated by the Robeson Art Guild at its sole discretion. Pieces may be rejected on arrival if modified or found to not be true to the image(s) or details submitted previously.
  
A personal interview may or may not be conducted; selection or rejection of artist(s) proposal is at the sole discretion of the Robeson Art Guild. All proposals are carefully considered in regard to quality of the art, diversity of exhibit(s), and the Robeson Art Guild’s schedule and mission. The Robeson Art Guild reserves the right to require modifications to the proposed exhibition narrative as they deemed necessary. Each approved exhibition proposal must be for no less than two (2) weeks. Any artwork received as part of the proposal which is sold either prior to or during the run of the exhibition must remain as part of the solo exhibition for the duration of period agreed.
  
Proposals are reviewed on a periodic basis, so there may be a delay between submission of the proposal and acceptance or rejection thereof.  The exhibition dates and any details of an accepted proposal must be agreed and confirmed in writing by both the Proposal Party and the Robeson Art Guild within 30 days of acceptance by the Robeson Art Guild.
  
Application Fee: $30 per proposal (non-refundable).
  
Requirements for Submission of Proposals

  • Proposed date(s)
  • Title of the Exhibition
  • Artist Name, contact information, and bio and/or resume
  • Representative and/or other contact information, if any
  • Exhibition Overview
  • Concept and Artist Statement describing the exhibition
  • Inventory of proposed Artworks, with overview of types, sizes, mediums, prices, and any specialized installation requirements. Do not bring original work to the
  • Proposed Exhibition Layout and Visitor Experience
  • Target Audience and Impact
  • Technical Requirements, such as overall space needed, lighting systems, electrical needs, etc.
  • Proposed Timeline, to include: delivery method and timeline; installation timeline prior to opening; proposed duration of the Exhibition; and take down and return after closing

  • Digital print quality image(s), 1 minimum, up to 4 per piece

Responsibilities of the Parties for Accepted Proposals

If chosen, the Proposal Party/Artist(s) is responsible for:

  • Delivery and removal of artwork to and from the gallery within the timeframe and constraints agreed to in the accepted proposal.
  • Preparation of artwork for display including framing and secure wired gallery hanging mechanisms in compliance with Robeson Art Guild requirements, any special display or installation needs, such as easels, pedestals, etc.
  • Pricing of artwork: artwork must be for sale unless agreed otherwise in the accepted proposal. Artwork prices are set by the Proposal Party/Artist(s); the Robeson Art Guild’s commission on sales is 20% for Robeson Art Guild Members and 40% for non-members.
  • Plans for and costs of receptions are the responsibility of the Proposal Party/Artist(s). The catering for Solo Exhibitions may be provided by family and friends or by a hired caterer. The Robeson Art Guild is happy to help arrange access to the facilities and provide limited help with the reception as needed. However, all expenses related to catering, cleanup, and any damage are the responsibility of the Proposal Party/Artist(s).
  • Invitations and/or marketing materials are the responsibility of the Proposal Party/Artist(s) and must include the official logo and contact information of the Robeson Art Guild. Robeson Art Guild retains the right to approve printed marketing materials and will provide help as needed and agreed.

The Robeson Art Guild will provide:

  • Art exhibit space within our secure galleries.
  • Hanging and display of artwork, including some pedestals (all white, various sizes).
  • A Solo Exhibition on the online auction site as agreed.
  • Help with the reception as needed, including stock cups, glasses, plates, napkins, serving trays, punch bowl, some tablecloths, and assistance with clean-up.
  • Robeson Art Guild retains the right to include the approved exhibition in marketing materials, online venues including calendar(s), and press releases. Support will be given for exhibition invitations and marketing materials as agreed.
