Join Kay Bradsher for a fun afternoon class! Learn to paint more vibrantly, construct more harmonious compositions, use color theory to design and decorate your home! You will experiment with what you learn and create your own one-of-a-kind artwork to take home!
The goal? To simplify and discuss all things colors. From color theory to psychological effects, Kay wants to bring information to you in an easy-to-follow and interesting way, exploring colors and the emotional impact they bring to art. No matter what capacity you work with color in your daily life, having a working understanding of color theory will always come in handy. We will see how colors mix, match, and contrast with one another. Color theory is the study of how colors work together and how they affect our emotions and perceptions. It is the art of combining colors based on the color wheel and is used by painters, graphic designers, interior decorators, hair colorists, and anyone working in visual culture. It is a framework that informs the use of color in art and design, guides the curation of color palettes, and facilitates the effective communication of a design message on both an aesthetic and a psychological level.
As children, we spend time in school learning about the basics of color, but few of us learn about the fundamentals of color theory. Color theory can be a valuable tool to not only help understand more about the world around us but also to create harmonious designs, even decorate our homes. Kay will explain what color theory is, why color theory matters, the different color models, and how you can more effectively use color in your life.
