The Summer Living 2026 Exhibition opened Thursday evening, July 23rd. It’s always fun to look at the new work entered and celebrate the artists themselves, all of them, even when the weather wasn’t exactly cooperating. Thank you, Adelio, for the fried chicken and Denise Siracusa, Ava Johnson, and Bobbie Britt for their contributions to our potluck dinner – if you couldn’t make it, well, better luck next time because it was great! The exhibition is open until September 10th. Stop in soon, even if you made it to the opening!
Nila Chamberlain was the judge for Summer Living – so good to see her again. Many of you know Nila, whether in her role as one of the founding members of the Robeson Art Guild or as an established artist and vital part of the art scene in Robeson County for many years. We were delighted to welcome her back as judge. Needless to say, she did an outstanding job.
We began with the People’s Choice Award from the Artist’s Choice 2026/Remembrance Poppy Exhibition that just closed: Ava Johnson, for her watercolor, Ocracoke Lighthouse, won with 62 votes from the visiting public. Be sure to take a look at her lovely piece when you visit. Ava has been kind enough to let us borrow it for a bit, just in case you missed it. It is hanging in the hallway across from the office.
