Join us this Saturday, August 8th, from 1 to 3 PM at the Art Guild and learn all about ATCs. Artist Trading Cards were initiated in 1997 by the Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann as a conceptual art project to encourage artists to exchange their own work in the form of small cards. From the first exhibition in Zurich with 1,200 small artworks, interest in ATCs has spread worldwide, with artists meeting and exchanging their own cards, often in small sets. Artist trading cards are uniformly 2.5-inches by 3.5-inches, the same size and format as baseball cards and playing cards. Artists create their own unique works or small series, signing and dating each on the back. The ATCs are then exchanged and collected by other artists and enthusiasts. This is a fascinating area of today’s art world and collectibles!
Jill has worked with many students, helping them create small series of cards to exchange and collect. This coming Saturday she’ll help you design and create your own set, inspired by Summertime or exploring another idea you may have.
