It’s been a busy year so far and with exhibitions, classes, art groups, and future planning. . . Well, we need some help. Not only “doing things” kinds of help, but we also need to make sure that the direction and plans we have and are developing are on course, what our community wants. We’re open to suggestions. Are you interested in helping? Is there something you see as needed that we haven’t considered? Here are a few starter thoughts to consider, in no particular order. We’re still pretty young in the scheme of things, young enough to be flexible. If you have a better idea let us know!
Children’s Program
We’ve had a few classes now and provided art projects at several community events in Robeson County over the past 3 years, including the Kids Groove activity as part of Alive After Five. In fact, the next upcoming community event is for Kids Groove on June 19 – we need some volunteers to plan the activities and help downtown in the Plaza on the day! We need to develop some classes, some projects for kids that drop in with their families, and possibly a program in conjunction with the local school system. Interested?
Docents/Volunteers
The Guild House is currently open to the public 2 days a week from 11 am to 4 pm, and other times by appointment and for members who like to meet here to share some creative time, such as the Monday Art Group. The dedicated volunteers who donate some of their time as docents, greet visitors and help with some of the day-to-day work and planning that keeps things running. Some docents bring in projects they are working on – visitors love to see the artists at work, whether it is on a painting, a knitting project, a craft project, or experimenting/practicing a new technique. The volunteers work hard – we need some more on the team! Do you have a few hours a month you could come in, perhaps demonstrate something, greet visitors, or simply help with some office or computer work, yard management, or other tasks? Any help would be welcome.
Classes
We have a pretty full schedule of classes right now through May, but there is an opportunity to offer more. If you are willing to lead a class or simply help with one, that would be great. Let us know what you need, and let’s get it scheduled.
Our Fifth Anniversary!
Hard to believe – but 2026 marks our Fifth Year! Let’s have a party and/or some Special Events! We have much to be proud of and many, many generous people to recognize and thank for their help these past few years, people generous with their time, ideas, and, yes, money. Interested in helping put something special together? Let us know!
Exhibition Committee
The Exhibition Committee helps make decisions on the rules for exhibitions, helps curate entries, is involved in setup, works with Featured Artists and events, and helps us recognize the many generous donors we have. We would like 2025 to also involve outreach to different areas of Robeson County and you can help us understand your local area. There overlap with Marketing to consider, too. Interested?
Marketing Committee
There’s some overlap with the Exhibition Committee, but marketing, getting the word out about our programs and the myriad of events and activities that the Guild plans and executes is a critical and sometimes-daunting task. From newsletters to flyers to YouTube to . . . whatever is next . . . we could use some help. Do you have a knack for writing, a yen to express yourself, a talent for graphics . . . or perhaps just a willingness to distribute flyers or help identify future featured artists, judges, groups to contact and help spread the word? Let us know, we need your help.
