Special Opportunity to Study En Plein Air with Artist-in-Residence Ellen Burke!
Ellen Burke will lead a two-day workshop “En plein air” painting Friday and Saturday, May 19-20. Devote time to pursuing your art, learning new skills, and expanding your personal painting experience. Each day will involve 5-hours to work in and around Lumberton, North Carolina, and a one-hour break to relax and enjoy lunch with Ellen and your fellow students. Class size is limited to 20 to enable Ellen to provide one-on-one attention to each artist as they work.
The workshop will begin with an overview of composition, how to loosen up, gain a deeper insight into your subject, and remove or rearrange elements for your sketches and studies. Your en plein air work can be watercolor sketches and studies providing inspiration and foundation for a more fully developed work later. Sometimes the spontaneous sketch is simplified, looser, vibrant, and absolutely fabulous.
