BONUS! – The People’s Choice Award for Artist’s Choice/Remembrance Poppy Entries!
The Summer Living 2025 Exhibition opened Thursday, July 24 and runs through September 11th at the Robeson Art Guild, 109 W 9th Street, Lumberton, NC. Artists from around Robeson County and beyond responded with a lovely variety of paintings and pottery reflecting their personal takes on this special season. There are 27 new pieces for you to enjoy, and a couple of special treats while you are here!
Judge Babette Augustin selected the winners and awarded a number of honorable mentions. She was kind enough to provide brief comments on each of the works submitted, an effort much appreciated by the individual artists. The comments will be published shortly in a separate post.
In addition to the awards for the Summer Living pieces, we were excited to reveal the winner of the People’s Choice Award for the Artist’s Choice Exhibition that closed on July 10th. More than 60 votes were received from Guild visitors over the run of that exhibit, with the landslide victory going to Anthony Greene for his pair Black Ecology 1 & 2. Anthony has agreed to leave his paintings with us through the run of Summer Living, so make sure to stop by and see them when you visit!
When you stop by the Guild House to see the exhibits, be sure to take few minutes to study the very special Tribute to Montford Point Marines by Melvin Morris. Melvin kindly loaned us his special painting for the Remembrance Poppy exhibition. It may not be here much longer as Melvin is nearing completion of the renovations on the Inner Peace Gallery downtown.

Babette Augustin was the judge for Summer Living. A photographer, entrepreneur, and multi-discipline artist, Babette launched a new stage of her life as the owner of The Mill End Store in Fayetteville, following her vital career as an award-winning newspaper photographer. She maintains an active gallery life with her private artwork and a variety of creative business endeavors.
Babette says she enjoyed the opportunity to serve as a juror for our Spring Festival exhibition last year – and we were delighted to welcome her back as judge of our new Summer Living 2025 exhibition! She selected First, Second, and Third Place Winners and awarded 7 Honorable Mentions. Stop by the Robeson Art Guild to see the quality of this diverse exhibition!
